The guide aims to assist the School Board of Governors (BoG) and other school staff in fulfilling their responsibilities regarding their safeguarding and child protection role, in order to promote clarity and consistency of approach across all schools.

This 2020 update provides some important revisions to the DE guidance document ‘Safeguarding and Child Protection in Schools – A Guide for Schools’, the detail of which is included in the letter issued to schools on 10 August 2020. An updated pdf will be uploaded onto the DE website in the coming days.
